DayLight Saving

 


1.When does Daylight saving start each year in New Zealand?

Answer: Last Sunday in September

Daylight saving starts each year at 2am on the last Sunday in September, and ends at 3am on the first Sunday in April.



2.What year did Daylight saving start


Answer: New Zealand first introduced daylight savings time in 1927 


3.Why was daylight saving started? 


Answer: In 1909, the parliamentarian Thomas Sidey proposed to move the clocks 1 hour forward in New Zealand's summer period to allow for an extra hour of daylight in the evenings. But is wan't officially introduced until 1927.

Answer: I think Daylight Saving shouldn't continue because we are losing an sleep 


5. Do all the states in Australia have daylight saving? Who does? Who doesn't? 


Answer: In AustraliaDaylight saving is observed in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and Norfolk Island. Daylight saving is not observed in Queensland, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Christmas Island or the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

We were learning about

  • Heart Rate

  • Weight 
We have been working on all of these in our Hurumanu 5 group.
The progress I feel I have made is getting better. I do want to push harder to my personal best. My next steps are to continue this outside of this Hurumanu.

Solar Oven

Last week we got into groups of 4. I went with Nici, Nevaeh and Susie,

We used cardboard, tin foil, tape and kebab sticks to make our solar oven to make smores.





In the end it kinda worked
The chocolate melted but the marshmallows didn't

1.What are two reason Mercury lost most of it atmosphere?
Answer:Mercury is so close to the sun, the solar wind blows pieces of Mercury away

2.Compare how close Mercury & Earth are to the Sun.
Answer: Negative 92.631, Mercury is 58 billion kg away from the sun and Earth is 151 billion kg away from the sun

3.Compare how much mass Mercury & The Earth Have.
Answer:The Mass of Mercury is 0.055 and Earth sill have 20 times more than Mercury

4.How does not having an atmosphere affect the temperature on Mercury?
Answer: The temperature changes from very hot to very cold. From 430C to -180C. Theres no Oxygen 

Bonus:Where do the names "Mercury" and "Whiro" come from? What are some other names for planets. The Maori Name for Whiro is the lord of darkness
